• WHO I AM

A gypsy soul, a dreamer and lover of all

    Catia Leite

Global SYT, Thai Yoga Practitioner, Reiki II, healthy food explorer.

    Ambassador for YGB

After studying dance throughout her youth, Catia decided she required a more profound life experience, so put her dream aside and began working and traveling as often as she could.

In 2003 her yoga journey into self-inquiry took its first steps and has since been a healing experience which has deeply changed her views on life. Her quest led her to explore many styles of yoga: Sivananda, Vinyasa flow, Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Yin. She has drawn inspiration from and remains grateful to all her teachers: Guruji Sri K Pattabhi Jois, David Life and Sharon Gannon, David Swenson, Matt Corigliano, Kino, Anne-Marie Newland, and  Stewart Gilchrist, who she assisted during Teacher Trainings, and is still her teacher and main inspiration.

Catia has been teaching yoga for over 10 years and has had the privilege to teach in some of the top yoga studios in London, teaching amazing people from all walks of life. She is a freelance yogini that loves to travel and share her knowledge, while learning from her students and other teachers. Catia's authentic soul is inspiring; she shares much passion, compassion, and love in all her classes, where age, background or religion is no barrier. She offers regular community classes, creating a safe space and giving a chance to those less fortunate or unsure of their path to come in and let go through the practice of yoga. Over the years she has also helped organize and run fundraising events, including Yoga Gives Back.

Catia's classes incorporate the essence of yoga philosophy, and how to apply the wisdom of yoga into daily life, on and off the mat. The sequences are fluid, creative vinyasa flows; a moving meditation with emphasis on the breath. She is particularly inspired by the Ashtanga practice, and imaginatively weaves her own variation into classes. Meanwhile, Catia is also adept at teaching Yin yoga, the Chakra's, and leading meditations.

Catia's passion for teaching and traveling has seen her lead yoga workshops and retreats in New Zealand, Bali, India, Portugal, to name a few. She feels that whatever she gives out to the world is magnified and returned, and so teaches with warmth and sincerity! And it has been said that her smile is a breath of fresh air.

Saturday 12th November 2016 @ The Light Centre Belgravia

    14:00-16:00 - £25

    Past Event

The focus of this Yin Yang Yoga workshop is the understanding and the practice of Yin yoga, the inner expression of being in order to move into Yang yoga, the outer expression of being. We will explore both practices and also learn how to apply some of these amazing techniques into your everyday life. As inner wisdom arises, we become attuned to our natural inherent knowledge of self and deep release is achieved. The natural laws of Yin and Yang are complementary to a balanced yoga practice, both aspects of being to harness the universal life force within.

    Moving through Transitions Workshop

Saturday 6th of February 2016 @ The Light Centre Belgravia

    14:00-16:00 - £25

    Sold out!

Moving through transitions has been designed to better your understanding in body, mind and breath and ultimately life. We are constantly evolving, changing - we know nothing ever remains the same. With many doubts, fears, uncertainties and so much more tagging along with it - in this workshop we will learn the basic understanding on how to deal with change on and off the mat. With unexpected shifts in life, that we sometimes don't feel ready for and yet we are faced with, we at times lose our sense of being, we anticipate. In this workshop, it's about learning the connection of all three fundamentals of yoga, ( Mind/thoughts (chitta vrittis) Body, Breath. Also how to deal with the fear that we constantly live with and the anticipation that holds us back from moving forward. How we can approach it with simple techniques to help us break the patterns we have created. So we can move fluid in a moving meditation and yet remain present in our breath. Without judgment or expectation, fear or anticipation but instead, creating a safe and welcoming space, in a positive manner, in practice and in your everyday life.

We will go back to basics allow beginners to take it through stages and at their own pace as well as for the more advanced to take it further.

We will work on opening the body fully to allow us to move more freely, strengthening core and shoulder to help us lift and fly into more advanced asanas/poses. Moving through transitions more gracefully and mindfully to enabling the individual to reach their personal goal - Whatever that may be.

Asana's we will work on and with: Sirsasana II into eka pada koudianasana II, Galavasana, Parsvha Bakasana, tittibasana, sirsasana I, II (other variations) pincha mayurasana and if there is time, adho mukka vriksasana.

Be prepared to work playfully but also to be challenged and pushed to the edge. Guaranteed you will leave the class feeling great, revitalised, new and with great tips to work with in your own space, on your own and even apply it in your next yoga class.

"I have lost count of the yoga styles and classes I have tried in my job as a writer and editor at the Evening Standard so I can say with conviction that Catia's is one of the very best in London.
While teaching a super-dynamic style, she makes careful corrections of her students and will always encourage and help everyone to master new postures.
The hard work she asks of you is all worth it for the endorphin release and steady mind you achieve by the end of class.
    - Jasmine Gardner, Deputy Features Editor, London Evening Standard

"Catia is an inspirational yoga teacher, she is challenging and motivational. You'll come out of her class feeling ready to take on the world..thank you x

-Nicky Purnell, Marketing Director at HW Fisher & Company

"I find Catia's class simultaneously challenging, holistic, positive with a great balance between strenuous and relaxing. She is a fantastic teacher who makes every person in the class feel cared for. This is exactly what I want from a yoga class."

"If you've ever wondered how strong, thorough adjustments can improve a practice this is a great class to try. Catia mixes good flow with long holds that allow her to knead student’s bodies to advance their poses.

Excellent strong hands-on adjustments Balanced class with mix of fast and slow pacing and good variety of poses"

All the classes are brilliant, but my favourite escape is Catia Leite’s vinyasa flow class. Catia is a small and supple, tough and toned, coiled spring of energy. The sort of person you can’t picture walking down a drizzly street in London. I can only imagine her lithe, tanned form, with its necklaces, rings and mysterious tattoos, on some distant beach, stretching under the sun...
